Where do the books come from?

I like to keep it simple; browsing round old charity shops, rummaging in the 50p boxes at car boots and searching antique book stands for bargains. If I have a commission where someone is looking for something in particular, I’ll hunt on eBay or keep an extra special eye open next time I’m out.

What condition will the books be in?

The books will arrive beautifully wrapped and ready to use, however I must stress that they are VINTAGE and PRE-LOVED, meaning they may carry markings, annotations or discolouring to the cover. Also, as they are handmade, there may be some slight difference from in the pictures.

What pages do you use in the notebook?

I use random selection of the original pages, although I will always try to use the colour plates and illustrations as well as text. They won't be in page order either! If you are contacting about a unique commission and would like a certain page to be kept in then that is absolutely fine, just let me know so I can make sure it is retained.

How and when will they arrive?

All of the books come gift wrapped in special packages, sent First class by Royal Mail.

How did you even start bookbinding?

This takes longer than a short FAQ so if you're interested, read this blog post.

Do you sell in shops or craft fairs?

Yes, mainly during the summer and Christmas I am usually  at some craft fairs and I have had my books exhibited at Royal Exchange in Manchester. I also stock on Not on the Highstreet and Etsy.

Do you ever do giveaways or collaborations with bloggers/magazines?

Yes I have done and am open to doing so again! I have worked with Olivia from What Olivia Did, Rosalind Jana from Clothes, Cameras and Coffee, Lizzie from The Dust on The Ground and I have also been featured on Vintage Manchester. I have just been featured in The Simple Things November issue too!

Can you re-bind any book?

Within reason yes, although I generally only work with old and vintage books. If you have something in mind the best thing to do is contact me and I can source an appropriate copy to turn into your own notebook.
